Arts Strategy, 2011 to 2015

The Shropshire Council Arts Service are currently working with consultants Eventus to develop an Arts Strategy for the County.

Due to current Council re-organisation this process has been put on hold. Work on the strategy will re-commence when the new council structures are finalised in the new financial year.

During 2010 Eventus worked with the Arts Service to carry out consultation, with a number of groups, which will form the basis of the strategy.

The consultation has enabled common issues to be discussed from different perspectives as well as allowing different groups to raise issues of importance to them.

Cultural Strategy

Evolution, Revolution and Innovation is the new Cultural Strategy for Shropshire and Telford and Wrekin.

The Cultural Strategy, driven by the Cultural Consortium, which includes Shropshire and Telford and Wrekin Council's and the private and voluntary sectors, maps out what we want to achieve over the years to come, working with local people and with creative and cultural industries to deliver our vision.

As well as proving the value of culture in Shropshire, the aim of the strategy is to help enhance and create new ways to:

  • Improve health and wellbeing
  • Think Green, Live Green
  • Learn about and through culture
  • Regeneration and economic sustainability
  • Develop a sense of place and a sense of identity
  • Connect people, places and organisations to share and deliver culture

The strategy embraces a partnership approach between Shropshire and Telford and Wrekin Councils and the private and voluntary sectors. It has been developed by the new sub-regional Cultural Consortium whose members represent culture, regeneration, health, equality and diversity, safer communities and young people.

The Consortium has been set-up to promote the cultural industries and tourism, regionally and nationally and to create opportunities for economic growth in this sector

The final document has now been approved and adopted by Shropshire and Telford & Wrekin Councils. Please see attachment below for you to download.
